Atlantic Starr was an 80’s R&B band, whose most notable hits were “Secret Lovers” and the above posted “Always”. Listening, you will likely remember the melody, as children, listening to the older generation bumping their classic slow jams, especially “Always”. The group was started in 1976 by trumpeter Duke Jones, drummer Porter Carroll Jr., bassist Clifford Archer, percussion and flute player Joseph Phillips, Sheldon Tucker on guitar, with David, Wayne, and Jonathan Lewis in Greenburgh, New York, USA. The memberships would eventually change over time and they did not gain pop success till around the mid eighties.
